What information will you need to report a death to ClearBank?

Most financial institutions, including ClearBank, will need the following information when you initially contact them:

  • Account number(s) and sort code(s)
  • Full contact details of the deceased, including their date of birth, NI number and registered home phone number
  • Details of the person dealing with the Estate – if not you, please ensure that you have their permission to pass on their details.
  • The original or certified copy of the death certificate 

What Happens Next?

Once notified, ClearBank will freeze any sole accounts or transfer joint accounts into the name of the surviving account holder. If they require further information, they will contact you at a convenient time.
