What documentation do you require to register a death with Cahoot?

Cahoot asks that you provide the following information:

  • death certificate (either the original or a certified copy)
  • Proof of your identification (e.g. a valid passport or driving licence)
  • If the total value of all accounts held with Cahoot in the sole name of the deceased is greater than £50,000 you'll need a bereavement instruction form and a grant of representation.

What Happens Next?

Once notified, Cahoot will freeze any sole accounts or transfer joint accounts into the name of the surviving account holder. If they require further information, they will contact you at a convenient time. If you require funds from the account to be used to pay for the funeral, they will talk you through how to organise this.
