What you need

The deceased’s:
  • Date of Death
  • Full name and usual address
  • Death certificate or interim death certificate (scan or photograph)
From you:
  • A piece of photographic ID, such as a passport of driving licence, to upload and verify your identity. (scan or photograph)

How to Report a Death to Scottish Widows Life Insurance

What information will you need to notify Scottish Widows Life Insurance of a death?

You will need the following information when informing Scottish Widows Life Insurance of a death:

Your name and telephone number
The name of the person who has died and any policy number(s) they had
If you don’t have any policy details to hand then they’ll ask for the date of birth and address of the deceased
A certified copy of the death certificate
Your relationship to the deceased
The next of kin
If the person who has died had any accounts with Lloyds Bank, Halifax, Bank of Scotland, Clerical Medical or St Andrew’s Life. Scottish Widows are all part of Lloyds Banking Group. With your permission, Scottish Widows can share information to close accounts as quickly as possible.
 

What Happens Next?

Once you have notified Scottish Widows of the death a representative inform you of the next steps. Should they require more information, they will let you know.
